Selecting Your Photographer To Shoot Your Wedding
by jim on Dec.29, 2009, under Article Database
One of the most important choices a bride and groom will make is the selection of their wedding photographer.
There are so many things to decide like the dress, decor, food, location, music, etc. Many couples feel the choice of a photographer is one of the most important since your pictures will be one of the most lasting and cherished memories from the most important day of your life.
We’ve all heard dissapointing stories about photographers delivering poor quality pictures, or not delivering anything at all. By taking the time to do some research you can be assured of choosing someone who will not only provide outstanding pictures, but who can make you feel good and remove at least one worry from a day filled with stresses.
You may know someone who has gotten married in recent years , so find out who shot their wedding and if they were happy with the results. You’ll probably discover good references this way, so contact the photographers who did a great job for your friends.
It also pays to check out several photographers. Search Google or another search engine for local wedding photographers - here in the capital city of Alberta Canada, you’d want to search for Edmonton Wedding Photographers. You can also do a search for something like Edmonton photography. Either way, you’ll get hundreds of results, so concentrate on those shown on the first few pages. When you visit the different websites, you’ll get a feel for each photographer’s style. Send an email to those who stand out. Their response is a good indication of how professional they are. Are the replies professional and written clearly? Have they provided any other examples or references?
Next, set up interviews with the photographers who seem like they’ll shoot the kind of pictures you want and who are in your budget. When you meet with the photographer, they’ll show you sample pictures and albums. How they treat you at this stage is a good example of what you can expect at your wedding. Are they friendly, or are they condescending? Do they seem warm, or are you uncomfortable with how they treat you?
The photographer will have an agreement for you to review. Take your time to read it, as it outlines what is expected of both parties. The agreement is for your benefit, too. While it commits you to pay them, it also commits the photographer to provide the services you have agreed to.
Here are a few additional ideas that will help your photographer get the best shots for you:
1. Create a list of the must-have photos you want and give it to the photographer before the wedding.
2. Make sure you know WHO is going to photograph your wedding. If the main photographer isn’t going to be the actual photographer at your wedding, find out who will - and ask to see their personal portfolio before you commit to anything.
3. Assign a family member or close friend to be the photographer’s liason who can point out all the important family members who you want to be sure to get pictures of.
4. Ask the photographer to attend the rehearsal so they will be familiar with where they can get the best shots without getting in the way.
5. Pre-plan where the formal and informal photographs will be taken.
6. Find out if the photographer provides finished prints, albums, thank-you cards and similar services after the wedding. These can be valuable extras that will enhance your wedding day memories and many photographers have excellent resources for these items that are of higher quality than the public can get.
By following these suggestions you won’t need to worry about your wedding photography. You’ll be able to enjoy your wedding day with the knowledge that you’ll have many wonderful photographs to enjoy for the rest of your life.

My Mini Dell Experience
by jim on Dec.29, 2009, under Article Database
That’s the experience with the Inspiron 910 Mini not the mini-experience! Well I am in web design and have been toying with the idea of getting a more modern laptop as my old Dell Inspiron from 2003 is as heavy as a brick. My step dad just bought a top of the range Toshiba Portege at around £1,200, but he’s at that time in life where 1,200 quid is affordable, where as I’m still in financial recovery from my last divorce (yes there was more than one!)! So I happened across the Dell Inspiron 910 Mini on the Dell website whilst looking at specs of normal laptops to use when out and about demonstrating our CMS system to potential clients, wow £299 inc VAT and delivery that is a bargain!
There I was credit card at the ready, wrist twitching, hang on I thought, why am I buying this, do I really need it? No, I don’t NEED it I just WANT ONE . [Puts credit card away]
The next day I happen to have to work on my step Dads’ ultra lightweight Toshiba , wow this is lush, so light, I wish I could afford one.
The next day I had to go to a clients with my laptop, and about put my back out trying to put it in the car passenger foot well whilst sitting in the drivers’ seat, hmm decided I do have a NEED for the new dell Inspiron mini after all! It only weights around 1kg. So as I had a management meeting that afternoon I informed my finance manager I would be ordering one and that was that. So Friday October 3rd I placed the order on the Dell website, and on the 8th I got back from a meeting at my XBox hard drive clients to find a Dell cardboard box on my desk, I thought it couldn’t possibly be the new mini as the confirmation email I got said it would arrive on or around the 20th October, but sure enough it really had arrived.
Well I was ecstatic and got it out and started setting it up straight away, you know remove Dell Support Centre and install Avast Anti Virus, that kind of thing. As it has an integrated web cam I also downloaded Windows Live Messenger and had a quick video chat with my girlfriend whilst she was doing her ironing, fantastic!
So I googled ‘mobile broadband suppliers’ and toyed with ordering the USB dongle from Three, as their 5GB monthly allowance is only 15 quid a month so the best looking deal, providing those coverage stories you hear about Three Mobile are not really the case!
Anyway, it was soon time to go and get my daughter from school so I thought yeah I’ll take it with me and even though I don’t have the mobile broadband USB Modem yet I can continue configuring it in car park if I’m early. I was early, so I turned it on, it said:
Windows could not start because of an error in the software.
Please report this problem as :
load needed DLLs for kernel.
Please contact your support person to report this problem
As we say in England “Computer says no…”
Ah dear, it was great fun whilst it lasted, then followed a 2 and a half hour telethon with Dell support in India
Apparently they were so quick to ship it to me that my service tag isn’t on their system yet. They suggested I called back in 24-48 hours, well I told them exactly what I thought of their suggestion as I’m sure you can image, but to no avail. I did indeed have to call back today and they have agreed to send me a replacement unit as it is within 7 days of delivery.
I hope the replacement arrives as promptly as the original unit did…
So conclusion? Apart from the fact it doesn’t work (a faulty drive in my opinion) and for the life of me I can’t get it to boot from an external drive or USB key (it doesn’t have a CD or DVD drive you know) it feels really solid, looks lovely, and is nice to handle (sounds a bit like the ideal partner to an i-phone 2.0 doesn’t it!).
Like most reviewers have stated , the keys are small (but blackberry users manage and they are larger than those keys) and the right shift key is tiny and means you can’t type an @ in the usual fashion and I wonder how it’s going to cope with all the complicated keyboard stuff it has to do when I lend it to a client like the ones running the stop pop-up ads website. The screen is nice though, 3 USB slots, a monitor connector, Ethernet and earphones and mic connectors although it has both speakers and mic internally so you can video conference and both speak and listen through the inbuilt hardware without having to plug anything in.
On the whole, I would recommend it, providing you get one that isn’t broken ! I am also yet to try it with LogMeIn which is my preferred way of dealing with how to access emails, lots of passwords, specialist software and all that kind of thing when you are out and about. Possibly the screen is going to be too small to be able to work with for extended periods of time, but I’ll let you know when the replacement arrives and I have had chance to give it a proper testing, assuming that one doesn’t break on me as soon as I start urm ‘configuring’ it!
Save Money and Supplies by Doing Regular Heat Exchanger Tube Cleaning
by jim on Dec.29, 2009, under Article Database
When considering heat exchanger unit cleaning, it is not what one would consider a glamorous job. In fact, nothing about it could ever be further away from glamorous than this form of industrial cleaning. However, be that as it may, jobs like these must be done.
Keeping machinery cool and running at top efficiency is the job of heat exchangers and failure in this area can be costly, to say the least. When you have important machinery that needs to be cooled in order to run at peak efficiency, radiant barriers are the best way to do this. Since it is cheaper and less complicated than mechanical refrigerants, many businesses with heavy industrial equipment that needs to be cooled will often use these systems.
The downside is that these systems can become dirty rather quickly and regular heat exchanger tube cleaning must be performed. Ignoring this system and not performing the exchanger tube cleaning when needed will result in a heat exchanger system that does not work efficiently. Over time, the efficiency of the system could become so compromised that it would almost be like not having a cooling system at all. In this event, your business could experience costly damage to the equipment the heater exchange systems were put there to cool.
The reality is that heat exchanger tube cleaning is not terribly complicated. In many cases, this will entail simply flushing the tubes with water to blow out any debris that can hinder the system from working properly. The cost that would potentially be incurred if the heat recovery systems were to be compromised could be significant and it is a chance any good businessperson will not be willing to take.
While it may seem difficult to imagine that so much rides on something as small as heat exchanger tube cleaning, it is the truth. Paying attention to the cleanliness of your heat exchanger system could save you big headaches and big money in the end.
